FOOD

  • Community Action- 859-873-8182
  • Food Pantry www.woodfordfoodpantry.org  To receive food packages, you must apply for a voucher at the Food Pantry, Bluegrass Community Action, or First Christian Church.  Approval for a voucher is contingent upon income, status as a Woodford County resident, and members of your household.  Once you are approved, you may come to the Food Pantry once per month to pick up a large quantity of food commodities.  Up to six times per year you will have access to all other donated food at the pantry.  The Food Pantry may be reached at 859-879-6373
  • There is a free community dinner every Monday night from 5:30-6:30 in the Life Center at First Christian Church (across from CVS Pharmacy.)  The only requirement is that your family sign in.
  • Midway Baptist Church, as a member of the God’s Pantry Food Bank Network, hosts a food bank that is open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Persons seeking more information may contact Mary Clanney in the church office at 859-846-4514 or by e-mail at office@midwaybc.net 
  • The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides an Electronic Benefit Card to eligible persons for the purchase of food.  You can apply for benefits online at https://benefind.ky.gov. The local office for Family Support is located at 115-D Crossfield Dr.  The telephone number is 855-306-8959. 

HOUSING

  • The Hope Center- 360 West Loudon Avenue in Lexington.  859-252-7881.  If you need a ride to the shelter, please call 859-873-3126 and the Versailles Police Department will provide that service
  • The Lexington Salvation Army provides shelter to homeless men with children and to homeless men with wives and children.  859-252-7706.
  • The Versailles Housing Authority www.versailleshousingauthority.org provides subsidized housing in Versailles.  The agency operates under federal guidelines and involves a detailed application and approval process.  Their physical address is 519 Poplar St and they can be reached at 859-873-5351.
